Admission Profile / Procedures

Initial Enquiry:

The initial enquiry about the prospects of the course and institution and any other detail can be obtained through phone call, email or website mentioned. The admission forms can only be collected from the Administrative Head Office or at the college campus at the mentioned addresses.

Documents:

Along with the application, the following documents are to be submitted.

    • Recent Colour Passport Size (4 nos) and Stamp Size Photograph (4 nos)
    • 10th Pass Final Examination Mark Sheet
    • Transfer Certificate/School or College leaving Certificate
    • Indian Passport, if available
Selection:

After collecting and verifying the application forms for the desired course, along with the requested eligibility documents, the Selection Committee will send you the Provisional Selection Notice.

Selected Candidates must either obtain a Medical Fitness Certificate, as per the Medical Fitness MS Rules 2000 of the Directorate General of Shipping, or undergo a Medical Test at or before the time of admission.

Note: For admission to the Pre-Sea training courses, as per the circular from the Directorate General of Shipping, Government of India, Sponsorship from a Shipping Company is NOT REQUIRED.

Registration:

Candidates can reserve the seat for the desired course by sending an initial reservation fee of Rs. 50,000/- (Fifty thousand only) by Demand Draft or Bank Transfer. This amount will be adjusted from the course fees at the time of joining the course.

Commencement Date:

The course commencement date can be directly checked up with the Administrative Head Office through phone call. It also will be announced in the website.

If a candidate meets the admission requirements for the desired course, they can directly join the college either at the campus or through the Administrative Head Office.

Fees Particulars:

On the course commencement date, the selected candidate should pay the total course fees to confirm their admission. The course fees are inclusive of books, uniforms, food and accommodation.

The fees can be paid either by CASH directly at the Administrative Head Office (in-person only) or by Demand Draft drawn in favour of “Cosmopolitan Technology of Maritime” payable at Chennai.

Final Examination:

The Final Examination for the Pre-Sea Training will be conducted by the External Examiners nominated by the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) / Mercantile Marine Department (MMD), Government of India. The examination will be of two segments, Written and Oral Examinations. After the successful completion of the examinations, the institution will issue the Course Certificate.

On completion of the Pre-Sea Training, all the candidates must compulsorily complete the STCW’95 (Standards of Training, Communication and Watchkeeping) Basic Familiarisation Modular Courses(EFA, FPFF, PST and PSSR).

Continuous Discharge Certificate (C.D.C):

After completion of the Pre-Sea Training and STCW’95 Basic Familiarisation Course, the rating candidates will obtain the Indian Continuous Discharge Certificate (C.D.C).

The Indian C.D.C is an important document for the seafarers to serve on board inside any Indian or International ship.

Rules and Regulations:
  • The rules and regulations shall be binding to all students and is subject to change without any prior information to the students.
  • After admission, the institution will retain the original documents and certificates and it will be returned only after the completion of the course.
  • Fees once paid are not refundable or transferable under any circumstances.
  • If any student leaves the campus without any prior permission or approval from the Chairman/Management, they will be suspended from the course for the remaining training period. They will be allowed to join afresh in the next upcoming batches only.
  • Students are expected to maintain strict discipline inside and outside the campus during the given training period. Use of tobacco, alcohol or any other illegal drugs are strictly prohibited. If any student is found violating this, they will be dismissed from the college with immediate effect.
  • The institution will take care of any kind of emergencies. The dispensary is equipped with adequate first aid medical facilities. The institution is not responsible for any personal injuries or ailment/disease suffered by any candidate during their training period.
  • The institution is not responsible for any kind of accident/physical injury/death of the candidates during their practical training period taken inside the college campus or at any other place of training outside the college campus. The institution is not responsible for any kind of compensation or refund of the course fee under such circumstances.
  • The institution is approved for a specified number of seats for each course. The entire infrastructure and facilities of the institution are utilised by the said number of seats. Thus, each seat involves considerable proportionate cost. Once the course has commenced, no new candidates are allowed to join the course midway. Therefore, each candidate is expected to complete the course at one go without any absence. The institution is not responsible for any kind of compensation or refund of the course fee if a candidate decides to leave the course at any point of time.
  • In case of any dispute, the Chairman’s/Management’s discretion and decision will be final and the candidates are expected to abide by these rules and regulations.
  • All disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of Chennai City only.
